Welcome to the Hornsby Cathedral Precinct

The Hornsby Cathedral Precinct is a place of faith, learning, and care - home to the Cathedral of Broken Bay, Hornsby Cathedral Parish, St Leo’s Catholic College, Our Lady of the Rosary primary school, and a range of other diocesan and community services. Located in the Hornsby Shire Council area, it has long served as a spiritual and civic anchor for the Catholic Diocese of Broken Bay, connecting parish life, education, and outreach across the North Shore and the Diocese.

But the needs of our community are evolving.

A vision for renewal

Most Rev Anthony Randazzo DD JCL, Bishop of Broken Bay, has invited us to reimagine the Hornsby Cathedral Precinct as a vibrant, integrated centre of Catholic life - one that reflects our mission and meets the needs of future generations.

This long-term redevelopment will deliver a new purpose-built Cathedral and supporting facilities that bring together faith, education, care, community, and administration in new and meaningful ways.

It is an opportunity to:

  • Expand our capacity to serve families, students, and those in need

  • Create new spaces for worship, learning, and community

  • Honour the site’s legacy while shaping its future

  • Improve access, safety, and connectivity across the Precinct

  • Thoughtfully renew existing facilities to meet evolving needs

This renewal continues a long-held vision to establish a central, visible, and welcoming heart for the Diocese in Waitara.

The revitalised Precinct will be a place of personal reflection and communal faith - a living expression of Catholic identity and mission. It will serve as an integral meeting place that is open, inclusive, and universal in spirit.

Ideas of visibility, accessibility, and centrality will shape this “community of communities,” set within the North Shore’s green civic setting.
